Weyerhaeuser Snowmobile Club

Our club maintains local snowmobile trails including an updated warming shack located in the Blue Hills. Through the club's efforts and landowner cooperation, we seek to provide a safe network of trails connecting the Weyerhaeuser & Blue Hills area to neighboring trails.

We continually track trends and laws regarding snowmobiling in Wisconsin to maintain a positive atmosphere for all winter activities and avoid burdensome legislation and taxation. The club also seeks to provide a medium for the exchange of snowmobiling information and to perform functions for the successful operation of the club and in the general public's interest.

Rusk County ATV

Located in northwestern Rusk County, the Blue Hills take their name from the bluish color the rolling landscape takes on through the morning mist. The area is home to a number of picturesque lakes, abundant wildlife and an outstanding 24-mile developed ATV trail.

The trailhead is located 12 miles north of Weyerhaeuser off Hwy F on North Buck’s Lake Rd. The trail is open from the Friday before Memorial Day through December 1.

Hiking

Some of Rusk County’s finest silent sports opportunities can be found in the Blue Hills. The Blue Hills, located in northwestern Rusk County, are remnants of a mountain range older than both the Rockies and the Appalachians. The picturesque area gets its name from the beautiful bluish color the hills take on when seen through the morning mist. In terms of outdoor recreation and wildlife viewing, the Blue Hills are one of Wisconsin’s best-kept secrets. This 23-mile trail system provides excellent hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities. The west side of the system is densely wooded. The eastern half is more open and provides excellent views of the landscape. Highlights of this unique area include felsenmeers – unusual jagged rock formations formed by the glaciers. The trailhead for the Blue Hills Trail System is on the east side of Fire Lane Road, just two and a half miles north of Hwy O
